Building Materials
the Schedule for building materials is up on google docs, please add to it any materials you guys would like to use with regards to your area of expertise.
Materials Schedule
I think we should either locally source everything, or prefab it completely overseas then ship it over or something like that, since many of the optimal building materials we would prefer are not made here. eg. lamboo is vietnam, VIP china etc.
In terms of prefabrication, we may have to use a suspended concrete slab as our base to forgo any ground condition complications /or do what some of these buildings did here.
Please have sketches ready tomorrow on wednesday!
Thanks!
Aim: application to a design project of theoretical knowledge -acquired in preceding semesters and further increasing –about building energy efficiency and thermal, visual and acoustic comfort
Task: To develop the concept [orientation, structure, material, energy production] and to design of a prefabricated zero energy living unit (stand alone) for an individual or a couple
Energy: On-site energy production
Water: Water harvesting and an-site treatment
ASSIGNMENT 01 [submission 1 April 2010] 30% of final mark
Submission format: Poster A1
Site: Auckland City Campus [see map]
Energy strategy [losses/gains]:
Concept for energy savings + on-site energy production
for heating/cooling, DHW and lighting
Compact layout [unit = container size; modular]
Design Technology: Prefabrication system
Structure and materials
Water: Water harvesting and an-site treatment
ASSIGNMENT 02 [submission 10 June 2010] 70% of final mark
